Growing SOOOOOO fast

I did a quick photo shoot with my little guy after church on yesterday because I wanted to get a picture of him in this adorable outfit from Noni since it is the last time that he will be wearing it. It is one of the newborn outfits that she bought for him since he was so small when he was born and so ALL of his clothes were way too big. This was even a little bit big the first time he wore it, but not anymore. I can't believe how fast he is growing. Ryan got on the scale with him and then without him on Saturday to gauge his current weight and we found out he is 12.5 lbs. No wonder my back and arms get sore from carrying him around.

That Can't be Comfortable

Miles is already a typical kid, falling asleep in the most interesting positions.

Ooops, starting to wake up and pull out daddy's chest hair in protest.

Nursery Pictures

Finally! I got around to taking more nursery pictures so that I could post what I had promised to post just before Miles was born. The theme is sort of a classic pooh (only small touches) meets the alphabet with a soft vintage yet modern feel.

No this mirror is not filthy, it is just an antique dresser and the streaks are permanent. The dresser is at the enterance to nursery.

These are the darling little booties that my mom crocheted.

You can see the green ceiling here in the pic of the old school mobile that I made for above the crib.

This is the monogram wall mural that I made and Heather helped me arrange.

Check out the awesome Uncle Goose blocks. Gotta love buying local.

Miles' growing library and a basket full of Uncle Goose letter blocks.

My very cozy rocking chair.

A closer shot so you can see the beautiful blanket (made by Kristin's grandma) and the awesome pillow (made by my super fab neighbor to match the valance she made (see below for the valance)).

The antique side table that I found for $28 at an estate sale. It was exactly what I was looking for to finish off the nursery. You can't see the lamp well in this pic, but it is an off white crackle finish with a cream lamp with green flecks and green and white trim.

This pic of the valance does not show well on the blog, but the fabrics are the same as the pillow above.

The butter yellow classic Jenny Lind spindle crib. Good thing I ordered it when I did, as they've recently discontinued it.

The basket under the crib holds lots of blankets.

The matching changing table. The baskets on the wall hold the wipes and toiletries, etc. Pardon the fact that we still haven't gotten around to installing the lightswitch cover plate. We bought it the day before Miles was born and somehow just haven't found the time (or remembered) to do it.

Hope that you've enjoyed the long awaited Nursery Tour.

The Faux-Hawk

It isn't as easy to see from these pics, but the other day, Miles had a cute little fauxhawk going on. Too cute.

He's a mover

Miles is quite a mover, which makes natural light photography rather difficult, especially with a point and shoot. (Sigh, someday I'll get my manual digital). A few pics of Miles wiggling around in the bouncy chair. Such a serious face. He is finally starting to have some "almost" smiles, so I think we're close. Now the challege will be catching them on camera.

Entertainment

Babies are entertained by the most interesting things. Miles was a little fussy so I started to walk around the house with him. I noticed that he was very interested in our light over the dinning room table (it is black and white, so very high contrast). I turned the light on for even more contrast and paced around and around the table. Major entertainment for our little man.

Please excuse my frumpy looking self as well as the messy house though. Someday it will all be some form of "normal" again. :o)

Great Lakes Folk Festival

On Saturday, we took Miles to his first (of many) folk festivals. My parents joined up and it is a good thing too. My dad, the ever prepared boy scout, brought everything, including a giant beach umbrella to create shade for Miles. This turned out to be a better decision than we even imagined as the clouds began to grow dark and then the skies opened up and dumped rain upon us. As we had a large amount of things to bring back to the car, we didn't really want to leave the cover of the umbrella to make a run for the car so we stuck it out there. When the rain lightened up, my dad and I went to buy some warmer clothes as none of us (except Miles) were prepared for the incredible cold weather that the rain brought with it.

I think that Miles enjoyed the festival. The music was probably lost on him this year, I think that he just enjoyed being held constantly for the ENTIRE day. Don't let the couple of open eye pictures fool you, he slept almost the entire time.

Here are Noni and Miles enjoying the festival before the rains came.

Then, hanging out with Grandpa under the umbrella before the rains came.

Daddy making creepy faces at the camera..typical.

And more creepy faces. Like I said, typical.

And finally a smile. Look, Miles is shocked too.

How cute is that?

And Miles snuggling with his dad in the freezing cold weather. When I went to buy clothes I found a little Michigan State hat to keep his head warm since I didn't think to bring a winter hat for him in August (what was a thinking?).
Miles was made famous at the festival too. When my dad and I were buying clothes a festival voluteer drove by Ryan and my mom and Miles hanging out under the umbrella as the rain picked up again and asked if they needed anything. Seeing tiny little Miles he promised to come back with a warm fleece blanket for him (which he did). We found out from some friends that the same guy was announcing at another stage and thanking people for staying despite the weather and he made a comment about a die hard 6 week old toughing out the rain under an umbrella at the Valley Court Stage. His first festival and he is already a die hard music lover. :o)

Bath Time

Miles got a bath on Friday night and he was looking too cute wrapped up in his little towel gazing at his daddy and wondering why the heck we just made him do that.

More Cute Pics

Here are a few more cute pics of Miles for your viewing pleasure.

Here is Miles hanging out with Noni at Carlos O' Kelly's....again.

Chillin' in the Baby Bjorn with mom.

Miles is very comfy and relaxed on Mom's shoulder.

And, in case the first pic wasn't cute enough, here's a close up.

Growing up fast

My cousin suggested taking pictures of Miles in his car seat since they grow so fast, you can see his grow progress by how he fills up his car seat. So, here is Miles as 1 month old. Check back for more car seat pics as he continues to grow. Ryan and I just had to adjust his car seat straps to the next level up because he was getting to big for the smallest setting. Sigh, where is the time going?

Relaxin' and Chillin'

Noni stopped over for a quick visit but Miles was a little more interested in sleeping that visiting on that day.

In the picture below, he is trying out his cool new sunglasses. A little bit big still, but oh so cute.

Finally

Aunt Ashley finally got to hold Miles. Ashley was actually in town a few days after Miles was born but she was fighting a cold and didn't want to put Miles at risk so she only got to see him briefly while home the last time and didn't get to hold him. Then, with Lauren around hogging all of the cuddle time, Ashley hasn't gotten a lot of time with him.

Fotunately Miles will get to see her again in a few months.
