An Almost smile caught on "film".

Miles was in the bouncy chair a couple of weeks ago and I wanted to get a few pics of him in his super fun little "Running on Natural Gas" romper and I caught an almost smile on camera. It isn't that he never smiles, he just won't do it when I have the camera (little stinker).

Mom, more pictures???

And here is it folks, the almost smile!!!!!

And then it's gone.

He is talking all the time now (so I have lots of pics like this).

This little series of face shots (below) was too cute not to post.

And that is all for tonight but I'll try to post more this week as I just loaded a BUNCH of pics on the computer and there are lots more cute pics of our little guy to show off.

How cute is that?

Ryan and I were getting Miles ready to go on Saturday and we propped him up in his rocking chair for some reason. He started to fuss and so I gave him his paci which must have helped to make him quite comfy because.......

Fussing.
Not sure what to make of this chair.
And, I'm out.
The little king out cold in his throne.

Adorable Plaid Shorts

Auntie Lauren, thank you for the super cute little plaid shorts. I did get to wear them while it was still warm and I looked SUPER adorable. It is a good thing that it is starting to get cool though because I'm starting to get too big for these already. Yes, I know I'm a chunky little monkey.

Buddies

I was cooking dinner one afternoon and had Miles' in the kitchen in his bouncy chair and I turned around and saw this. I think that this is the begining of a long and happy friendship between a boy and his dog.

Playing with Daddy

Ryan will probably kill me for posting these pics of him in his grubby sweats, but these pics were too cute not to post. I walked past the nursery one evening as Ryan and Miles were having a little pre-bedtime play after Miles' bath and it was so cute I ran to grab the camera. Miles was quite fasinated by daddy and his elephant toy.

Those Eyes

I don't know how easy it is, from the size of the pics on the blog, to see Miles' beautiful eye color, but I hope that you can see it. I also hope that it stays this color, he is still too young to say for sure. They are such a striking shade of deep blue-gray. The first picture is with flash, the second two are natural light, but the one with flash just captured the eye color a smidge better.

And I had to include this last pic because his expression cracks me up.

At Two Months

Miles at two Months. I can't believe how fast he is growing. Before I know it, I'll be sending him off to college. Anyway, his Auntie Lauren got him this super cool BlaBla frog so now you'll be able to watch him grow each month as soon enough he will be MUCH bigger than his frog. And, no I did not intentionally coordinate the orange diaper with the frog's shorts.
Not so happy about this photo session.

Ahhh, much better with my paci.

Oooh, who needs a paci, these fingers are tasty.

At 2 Months he:

  • Weighs 13 lbs 3 oz.
  • Is 23 7/8 inches long.
  • Is still fitting into 0-3 month clothes (although some of his 3-6 month clothes are starting to fit).
  • Is very serious most of the time and very selective with his smiles.
  • Loves to stare at the ceiling fan and out the window (his favorite is to look up through the trees).
  • Can hold up his head and pick up his chest during tummy time.
  • Can roll over (although he doesn't do this a lot yet).
  • Coos and "talks" ALL THE TIME.
  • Is a very content baby.
  • Loves to be sung to (especially Itsy Bitsy Spider and The Ants Go Marching (Daddy style)).

Miles and the Giant Zucchini

Ryan's boss has a large garden and has generously shared the bounty with us. This bounty has included GIANT zucchinis. I was so amazed by the size that I had to do a photo shoot with Miles next to the zucchini that is almost as big as he is. He is becoming such a mover though, that it is hard to get a photo where his limbs aren't blurry (unless of course he is sleeping).

I love this last photo. It is as if Miles is saying "I'm still bigger than you are Zucchini".

Meeting the great-grandpas

On Labor Day, we took Miles to visit his great-grandpas (his dad's grandpas) at their nursing homes. Miles wore one of his fireman onesies from his great aunt Chris because great-grandpa Russell was a fireman.

Checking out great-Grandpa.

Now, I think that we are more interested in the lights than anything else.

Four generations of Russell men.

Grandpa gets to hold his first great-grandchild.

After our visit with great-grandpa, we headed over to see great-Opa (dutch for grandpa). Here is four generations on the Kooyman side.

Miles was having a conversation with his Oma. I love the progression of pictures here.

"Really, thats interesting."

"OH! You don't say."
"I can see how that could happen."
"Do I have to poop?"
If you couldn't tell, that conversation commentary was from Ryan.

He's so cute when he is sleeping

I had to get a few shots of his cuteness when I saw him like this. I think he promptly fell asleep after I had put him down in his crib to wash my hands after his diaper change. Look at all of those delicious little rolls. What happened to the skinny little baby to whom I gave birth?

G-Diapers

Rather than doing cloth diapers or disposable diaper, we decided to try g-diapers. They are flushable diapers and the cloth exteriors look soooo cute. I had to get a little bum shot of Miles in his g-diapers. He is growing so quickly though, that he no longer fits into the small size and I've ordered the medium size, which should be here on Wednesday.
