Boy, is my belly getting big quickly. Well okay, I'm not really this big yet. While I was worried about looking too pregnant for this last opera, the director actually wanted to make me look pregnant, not realizing that I was already pregnant. So, this is the result of the costume bustle worn backwards. This costume made me thankful that women do not still dress like this today, I look like a house. It didn't help matters that I got the worst cold that I can remember (more than likely the flu actually) during the week of the opera and I wasn't even sure that I would be able to sing for the performances. Not a good thing when you are supposed to be singing in a quartet in the wedding scene. Thankfully the chorus part is very small and not terribly taxing in this opera and my voice came back enough to be able to sing. It was, however, the most miserable experience of my pregnancy thus far (the whole illness, not the opera itself). But enough of my pity party, I am slowly but surely feeling better everyday as is Ryan (my very wonderful husband who generously decided to share my cold so I didn't feel miserable alone). :o)
